Introduction to AcroYoga

The Introduction to AcroYoga class will be a 90-minute session for beginners. In this class, you will learn about the three primary roles in an AcroYoga practice: base, flyer, and spotter. This class is combined with working on yoga’s latest and newest ‘back friend’ the Back Mitra (Mitra is Sankrit for friend) which is a dense foam rubber strip; it is used along your spinal column creating profound release into gravity, allowing muscular tension to melt away. The props used while practicing the various restorative yoga poses provide support while moving the spine in all directions, putting into practice the ancient yoga idea that a healthy spine promotes well-being.

Vinyasa

Forward fold with toe grab
Rooted in Sanscrit, Vi means order, and Nyasa means placement. To vinyasa is “to consciously, orderly place in a special way”.

In Vinyasa class we focus on five (5) components; intention, breath, movement, bandha, and gaze. This class links breath to movement, and opens the energy channels, aligning intention with practice…. all the while working up a good sweat!

Open to all levels.

Yin Yoga

Instructors practicing Yin
Yin Yoga helps cultivate a meditative mind through long, deep stretching. This yoga practice allows space for emotional cleansing and deep physical openings, particularly through the hips, pelvis, and spine, targeting tendons, ligaments and fascia within the body. Each posture is held for long periods of time (generally 3-5 minutes, but sometimes as long as 20 minutes) to encourage the slow and safe opening of connective tissues.

Yin yoga focuses on breath, softness and surrender, allowing for a deep exploration of the body. Yin yoga is quite a challenging practice due to the length of time postures are held, but is open to all levels and is the perfect compliment to more active, yang styles of yoga, such as Power Yoga or Ashtanga. You will leave feeling deeply relaxed and peaceful.
